PaTRIOT’S Day

I couldn’t go on without catching you up on Patriot’s Day weekend. Patriot Day once meant nothing to us but here in Mass, it is a HUGE event. Patriot’s Day marks the start of the Revolutionary War. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love history and living in Boston has been a great place to live and to really see where our nation started. One thing I have noticed about Mass: They embrace every season and take advantage of every opportunity they can to celebrate their state and what it has to offer. On any given weekend, there are at least ten activities published in the Boston Parent’s paper about things to do with young children. You just can’t beat it. We live just between Lexington and Concord, just along the Minuteman trail (where Paul Revere rode his midnight ride). A few weeks ago, we took our kids to the Patriot’s Day activities. We saw a full reenactment of the Revolutionary War. We saw Red Coats shooting off cannons and the Colonial soldiers marching. Everyone was dressed in full colonial attire. t was really really cool. We had taught the kids all about Paul Revere and what they did. Both of them were riding in the stroller all along the Minuteman Trail saying”The Red Coats a coming! “ He also knows all about one if by land and two if by sea. Alli kept thinking the “Red Sox” were coming. Um..no, the Red Sox are the good guys, the Red Coats are the bad guys. Alli was especially funny because every Red Coat that came by made Alli cower. She was scared to death of all of them. I am so glad we were able to experience all of it. The kids had a great time.
