Cole’s Party

This past week was very busy. Jim’s parents came to visit us her in Boston and we had a wonderful time. We went to the Children’s Museum, saw Jim’s lab and office at MIT, and had Cole’s 5th birthday party. We decided to do a mad scientist theme; something we had seen in Family Fun magazine. Cole and Alli love when Jim does science experiments so this seemed like a great party idea. The best part about it-Jim planned almost the entire thing! The science party was right up his alley so I actually got a break from all of my usual party planning and let Jim totally take the reigns on this one. All of the kids got lab coats, goggles, and gloves when they arrived. Each of the labcoats had their scientist name embroidered on them thanks to Jim’s mom. The kids made lava lamps, slime, volcanoes, and watched Jim shoot off Mentos and diet coke. They also played hot eyeball rather than hot potato. The biggest hit of all was the food. They ate brain jello which had bugs snakes and gummy worms inside and eyeball birthday cake. It was a lot of work but all of the kids couldn’t stop talking about the party this week. They had so much fun!
